Google anything related to weight loss and you’ll instantly find thousands of hits that mostly have one thing in common – do this or that to lose weight. The thing is, the “this” or “that” is typically attached to some to-do list, diet plan, or suggestions that only last temporarily.
What if I told you that those won’t help you when the going gets tough? What if I told you that while those lists, plans, and suggestions are great to have, they are not the final answer? The truth is, there is something much deeper at play when it comes to losing weight and that’s what I want to share with you…
Top Mental Health Therapist Reveals the Secret to Losing Weight
It’s only fair that I share a bit about my background so you can see why I have cracked the code to weight loss. You see, I was the woman on the couch that was depressed and using that to fuel my emotional eating.
My depression was linked to having lost my grandmother (the woman who raised me until she passed), learning that I was married to a serial cheater, and being ashamed of what I saw in the mirror.
Night after night I would literally eat and cry myself to sleep. It came to a halt once I cried out to God and told Him that I couldn’t do it anymore. What He showed me was profound, and it was exactly what I needed to begin my weight loss journey.
The Roots to Weight Gain
While there are many factors that come into play with weight gain, there are some aspects rarely discussed. One of these is the tie of emotional eating. But what’s tied to emotional eating? As with my story it was betrayal, pain, and loss.
These are the silent on the inside weights that come out physically on the outside. Most people would look at me and just see a heavy set girl. They didn’t know what was hiding within. They didn’t know that I was coping with my depression and pain with emotional eating.
The Secret to Losing My Weight
After God literally told me, “Girl, GET OFF the couch!” I knew my breakthrough would lie in finding the peace to focus on my mental wellness. You see, this is normally where a weight loss plan or 10-steps to losing weight program would come in. However, that alone wasn’t going to work.
Even with having a therapist, I knew I had to go deeper. I had to work on my mindset. And that right there was the key. It was the secret.
Mental wellness is the secret to losing weight and keeping it off. There is a rewiring that has to take place before you can begin to use any program and see the new you without threats of returning to the old you.
Does it take time? Yes.
Is it hard? It can be.
But, is it worth it? Absolutely.
Your ability to lose weight and keep it off lies in your mental wellness. And I am here to tell you that it can be done. I lost 80 pounds and continue to keep it off. Not simply because I signed up for a weight loss program, or started exercising two hours a day.
Nope, my mental wellness is the vehicle that continues to drive my physical health right now today and I want to help you discover and do the same.
I recently started a podcast that I think you’ll love. It’s my way of helping one woman at a time achieve the life that she deserves.
