Your mental health will determine your happiness because mental health affects how you think, feel and act! We all have stress in our lives to include relationship issues, family issues or issues at work. Mental health is just how you process life and sometimes you may feel overwhelmed and need the help of a licensed therapist.
MENTAL HEALTH IS JUST HOW YOU PROCESS LIFE!
Your mental health impacts your ability to function, to form relationships and to do the things that you love to do.
Now you may ask yourself: “Do I need to seek out help? Is there something wrong with me? How do I determine if I need of help?”
The fact is that we all need mental help! There are no exclusionary criteria to being affected by mental illness, there’s no “Hey, I live in a big house I’m not affected, I have a master’s degree I’m not affected”. Additionally, there’s no way to tell from looking at someone if they need mental help.
WE NEED MENTAL BALANCE!
Unfortunately, there’s a stigma attached to getting mental health treatment and a false belief that you are crazy for needing help. The advice you may receive is “just deal with it, your life is not that bad”.
This advice is simply WRONG. You have experienced trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression and then you are told “just get over it”. You are being told that your issues are not issues; therefore, you can just “will yourself” into feeling better. You are told you’re “too strong to get a mental illness, you’re too strong to get depression”. And in the end, remaining silent is killing you!
Admit you need help and ASK for it! It is ok!
If you have experienced a traumatic event that continues to affect how you feel, think or act; you need a therapist! Therapists can’t change what happened to you but they can help you to change how the traumatic event affects your life. They will help you to unpack the baggage that you have been carrying around for so many years to help you to find balance again. We need balance in our minds, body and spirit.
You are a human being; you have emotions and you are connected to those emotions. So allow yourself an opportunity to express those emotions.
You learn, you develop; you expand over time. The great secret about your mind and your mindset is that you can change it over time. Just because you don’t have the right tools in the beginning, doesn’t mean that you never have the right tools. Therapy helps you to develop the right tools.
CHANGE YOUR MIND AND YOU CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
The most important relationship in your entire life is the relationship you will have with yourself. When you change how you see yourself, you will shift not only your thoughts but you will also shift your whole life!
